Video – 2 Bike Crash at Intersection

06/25/2009 · 4 Comments

This video pretty much speaks for itself.

It never hurts to look at cross traffic even if you have the green light.

Quick accelerations or dart-outs when a light turns green puts you at a disadvantage because your robbing yourself of time (remember time = distance too); quick accelerations doing a wheelie, well that is another subject.

Key to accident avoidance is TIME TO REACT; seek to make all of your maneuvers gradually and smoothly; buying time wherever possible.

Not to mention having two wheels on the ground increases your ability to maneuver and stop.

Ouch! Moron! If I was the victim of that crash due to wheelie dumbass, and was able to, I’d get up and kick his ass, and make sure he was injured.

Sorry for the harsh comment, but stupidity kills.

This week for some reason there’s been a rash of red light runners around here. Yesterday while approaching a green in my cage, I saw a person approaching from the right – not speeding, or trying to “beat the light” (Theirs was already red), but just driving. I could tell they were not going to stop, and they didn’t. They drove right through the red big as you please, having no FREAKING idea that they had just run a red. I couldn’t help but hope I’d have been as observant on the bike.
